Our hotel has a history that spans 44 years and three generations of the Büning family. It all started in 1974 when Rudolf Büning Sr. acquired the property on Birkenstrasse in Bad Rothenfelde and opened a charming hotel with 7 guest rooms and a restaurant. Today the Hotel Drei Birken has 73 spacious rooms, suites and holiday apartments, a restaurant with a sun terrace and a wellness area.
The focus is on the Büning family's great love for hospitality and their tireless commitment to offering their guests the best service. From the first guest room to the 73rd, from the original restaurant to the wellness area - the Hotel Drei Birken is the result of 44 years of hard work, passion and family tradition.

Our story begins: Rudolf Büning senior takes over a business with a restaurant with 90 seats and 7 guest rooms.
Handover to the son: Rudolf Büning junior and his wife Magret Büning take over the business. A year later, the neighboring property was purchased.
Cultivation and extensions: An indoor swimming pool, a massage practice and 23 new rooms will be created and the existing rooms will be renovated.
A fire with consequences: A fire destroys the entire extension from 1981. But we carry on and rebuild everything.
Another cultivation: In order to be able to grow further, neighboring properties are purchased. There will be 10 apartments, 5 junior suites, 2 double rooms and 2 single rooms. A reception with a winter garden is being created. Rooms in the house are rented to a cosmetic practice and a spa doctor's practice.
We beautify ourselves: We are renovating 23 rooms in the old building. 3 new double rooms are added. Two guest rooms create a multifunctional room in the restaurant. The main entrance and the restaurant will be redesigned. The wellness area and swimming pool are being renovated and beautified.
The expansion continues: In order to be able to grow further, another neighboring property is purchased. We are expanding the restaurant by 100 square meters into the garden and building a terrace with 60 seats. We're opening a wine bar. An extension is being built with 16 single rooms and 5 storage rooms. The kitchen is being restructured and renovated.
Renovation of the wellness area: The wellness area will be completely renewed and renovated. The previously rented space will be used for the expansion. Renovation of the apartments, the rooms in the old building and the kitchen.
Handover: Der Betrieb wird von Tochter Lisa Büning übernommen.
We are expanding again: We are expanding and building a new reception with access to the restaurant. There is also a relaxation room.
Redesign: The sauna area will be completely redesigned. The first floor will be demolished and two new floors will be created with a total of 16 new rooms. There will be 3 holiday apartments in the neighboring building.
